General Information
Join us for a day-long symposium to learn how nematode worms are used to make groundbreaking insights into biological questions. Come meet your fellow Front Range nematologists, learn about current research happening in our area, and enjoy good food, drinks, and posters. Participate in our panel on challenges and tools for a successful Ph.D., and finally soak up cutting-edge research from our Keynote Speaker, Shaul Yogev. Stay to enjoy the open space at New Belgium Brewery and Downtown Fort Collins.

Registration
To build community and exchange ideas we are looking for ~20 posters submissions, hopefully at least one from each lab in our Front Range Community so that we can chat over lunch at the poster session and get to know the excellent work being done. For posters all of you have to do is to give us a title when you register.
If you want to be selected for a short talk, please submit an abstract. We will select the best 5 abstracts to present short talks during the conference.
Keynote speaker
Dr. Shaul Yogev
Yale School of Medicine
Formation and function of the axonal cytoskeleton
Keynote address at 3:30 PM, no registration required
Dr. Yogev studies how the architecture of the neuronal cytoskeleton is established, maintained, and works to support polarized traffic in neurons. Neurons heavily rely on the neuronal cytoskeleton to establish and maintain synapses that often reside at a large distance from the cell body. Dr. Yogev’s lab has innovated reagents and analytical methods to study cytoskeletal protein organization and dynamics in vivo using C. elegans. Though these advances are applied to axons, they are relevant for all cell types and cell biological mechanisms involving subcellular compartmentalization of signaling be it proteins or mRNA. Dr. Yogev received a Humans Frontiers in Research Fellowship, a speakership at the Gordon Research Conference “Cell biology of the neuron” (2022) and has received many other accolades and awards.

Food
The Symposium will start at 10 am, but plan to come early for coffee. We will have sandwiches for lunch with vegetarian and vegan options, and beverages from Wolverine with drink tickets. Be sure to let us know if you need anything specific for food when your register and we will make it happen. Take your sandwich and beverages to the posters, ask questions, learn more about research in the front range, and build community and networks. In the afternoon, there will be another coffee break with cookies. WolverineFarms also has a cafe where you are welcome to purchase specialty coffees and other beverages.
Reception to Follow
After the Keynote address, we will do some brainstorming and ask for your input for the next event in 2024. We’re interested in things like: where should we do it, who will organize it, and what format would we want?
Please join us after the event for beverages and snacks at New Belgium Brewing Company. The brewery is just around the corner from WolverineFarms and will provide a space for us to continue brainstorming and exchanging ideas.
